CHATAWA is a folk-horror boardgame in which players traverse the unforgiving terrain of Chatawa, Mississippi. Among these swamps and forests lies - according to legend - the home of the Chatawa Monster.

The goal is to endure the treacherous journey through the woods and across the marshes. All to prepare for the crossing of the lake in the last chapter. If the Chatawa Monster finds you - you lose.

But Chatawa is not a boardgame like all the others. The gameplay is more akin to a ritual, a seance. You can not gain victory by being skilled or smart. In Chatawa you need to travel inwards - to find absolute trust in your intuition - to go forward and survive.

During gameplay the players will move across the board by taking turns drawing faced-down step tiles. Some tiles are safe, others are dangerous. The more dangerous tiles you draw on your way, the more Demons you risk bringing to the last chapter. And the more Demons you bring to the final round, the less likely you are to make it all the way to the finish line.

You must therefore choose each step carefully - and trust your intuition all the way.
